Jack Cressey 2010 Future Leader Award

The 2010 Jack Cressey 2010 Future Leader Award was presented to Dustin Medori of Academy Construction & Maintenanc Ltd. at the Pipe Line Contractors Convention on June 10, 2010 at the Annual General Meeting in St. John's NL.

Dustin Medori, from Onoway Alberta, started working for Academy Construction & Maintenance Ltd. as a summer labourer in the yard at Academy’s shop. The following summer, when he returned for the same job, he had new boots. Unfortunately, these new boots blistered his feet rather severely, so it was decided to try him in the office, where he could assist with quality control.

His exceptional computer and organizational skills attracted management’s attention. He excelled at everything that was given to him, and gradually took on a multitude of tasks, including estimating, scheduling and cost control, which he handled with skill and ease.

Dustin is currently working on his Masters in business administration in the evenings, while working full time, and either playing goal on a Senior double A hockey team or managing his baseball team.

He is newly married to Joy, who is also taking her Masters degree.

Ryan Bourke, president of Academy Construction and Maintenance is currently training Dustin in management, and describes him as an incredible young man.
